Facebook Like Moves Beyond the Dumb Grunt, Adds Comments to Like Button

One of the most obnoxious things about Facebook’s recent changes has been that clicking a Like button around the web just pushed a dumb, inarticulate grunt out into the newsfeed of your friends. “I Like this thing,” it said, and nothing more. Today that’s changing, with the inclusion of a writable comment space inside the pop-up that appears when visitors Like something out around the web.

Facebook Ownership Claim Could Leave Accuser a Wealthy Man

Early last week we related the story of a man who claimed he owned 84% of Facebook , calling the suit “weird, to say the least.” Now, more than a week later, and the details of the case are seeming less and less weird and more and more like they could make accuser Paul Ceglia a wealthy man. Henry Blodget, founding editor of Business Insider, writes today that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could be in much deeper water than we originally imagined. Sponsor The Wall Street Journal originally reported the case of New York Web designer Paul Ceglia, who worked with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in 2003.

Twitter Used to Psychoanalyze Entire Nation

A team from Northeastern University and Harvard Medical School has been analyzing words used in tweets by American users in an attempt to gauge the public mood around the country. What they discovered was that users on the West Coast seem to be quite a bit jollier than those on the East Coast. It is not clear whether the data was collected during the summer or winter months and accordingly adjusted, for that surely would affect the readings.

You Be The Judge: Apple Rejects iPhone App for "Obscene, Pornographic" Screenshots

Earlier this week, we reported on the removal of iChatr, the iPhone version of the popular randomized video chat service ChatRoulette , noting that we thought Apple had gone too far in its action. Because users were exposing themselves, Apple removed the app as part of the company’s anti-porn stance. Now we hear from DLP Mobile , creators of a mirror app for the iPhone 4, that Apple rejected its app from the App Store because its submitted screenshots were considered “obscene, pornographic, or defamatory.” All we can say to this is: Take a look and see for yourself.
