Ask The Expert: Designing Your Conference Room [Video Over Enterprise]

A few weeks ago I wrote a post encouraging everyone to get out of the meeting rooms and use personal video conferencing systems instead. But as much as I’m standing behind those harsh words, I am still a fan of meeting rooms, when the nature of the meeting calls them. Or as I wrote in the original post: …a meeting, with lots of people from the same physical location

What Does the iPhone Video Chat Frenzy Really Mean? [VoIP Survivor]

If you haven’t been on this planet for the past several weeks, then I should tell you that Gizmodo have put their hands on a future iPhone prototype . I don’t really want to delve into the realm of questions running around how much they paid, whether it really is an Apple product, staged or got lost.

Let’s Get Visual [Video Over Enterprise]

[After the success of IMTC 2025, held a few weeks ago, I've asked Kfir Pravda, the CEO of Pravda Media Group , the digital agency which organized the event, and VP marketing of IMTC, to share his thoughts on using video conferencing, and I am proud to publish them here.] In the last 3-4 months I participated in a weekly video conferencing session with participants from across the globe. As the head of the IMTC 2025 steering committee, I decided to drink the poison we were pushing to our speakers.

When People Really Do Need To Fly [VoIP Survivor]

Ever since that volcano with the weird name (Eyjafjallajokull, if you must) erupted, video conferencing companies ( RADVISION included ) have stepped up their efforts in saying that you can use their solutions instead of flying. I hate that claim. We’ve used it as an argument for going green, as an argument for birdflu and swineflu – you get the idea.

Is HD Becoming The New Black and White? [VoIP Survivor]

My wife and I don’t get to see a lot of movies since we’ve had our baby girl. If we do, it’s usually on Friday afternoons, when we can leave her with her grandparents. Lately, we’ve been able to go out and see two movies: Avatar and Alice in Wonderland – Both in 3D

What IMTC 2025 Taught Me About Virtual Conferences (And Mt. Eyjafjallajokull Too) [Video Over Enterprise]

I was very disappointed to hear that the WR Collaboration Summit in Berlin, the biggest event of our industry, was postponed due to travel restrictions caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland . Although I wasn’t going to participate, RADVISION had some interesting things to say and show there.

Missing Hardware on the Nexus One (and the iPhone 4G) [VoIP Survivor]

The Nexus One, just like the iPhone and the rest of the “smart” pack, comes today with some impressive hardware: a large multi-touch display; WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity; a 5 Megapixel camera; GPS, accelerometer and a few other toys that I probably missed. Whenever an iPhone is about to be launched ( the latest iPhone OS 4.0 is a good example), a slew of blogs spew out posts about what they believe is coming out in the new version. Martin Sauter took the time recently to go over the essentials that should go into his next mobile device .

Everything You Wanted In A Room System (But Didn’t Know To Ask) [Video Over Enterprise]

Two months ago I announced here that we have completed the puzzle for our visual communications offering to the enterprise market through the acquisition of intellectual assets from Aethra, (a famous high-end room systems vendor and a long time RADVISION partner). I explained how these assets can complete the end-to-end solution that RADVISION now offers, and how we will now be able to easily deploy new and exciting technologies through our solution. However I wasn’t able back then to discuss the new kid on the block, and so I’m more than happy to see the official press release of the SCOPIA XT1000 , today, unveiling our brand new high-definition room system.

What I Learned From the IMTC 2025 Virtual Event [VoIP Survivor]

[ Laurie Berg wrote here first just before the IMTC 2025 event. When I heard her speaking after the event about how much she has learned from assisting in its organization, I asked her to provide some inputs here - who knows, after reading what she has to say about it, you might find yourself wanting to host such a virtual event sooner than you think...] Well, IMTC 2025 Virtual Forum has come to an end. Predicting The Future, Science Fiction Style [Video Over Enterprise]

The best way to predict the future is to invent it. – Alan Kay I really liked Tsahi’s post on the “science fiction version” of telepresence . I have to admit I am an avid sci-fi fan myself, although I find less and less time for books these days.
